This past weekend I took a much needed mini vacation to one of my favorite destinations in California: Palm Springs.
Palm Springs is a cute little desert town filled with cute resorts, gorgeous pools, beautiful mountain views, and tons of yummy spots to eat and drink. I've been coming to Palm Springs once a year for a while now since it's only a quick two hour drive from where I live in San Diego for a relaxing weekend away and every time it does not disappoint. I love that I can come here to just unwind, forget about work or any life stresses and chill poolside with a yummy cocktail enjoying the desert sun. (Plus every corner you turn you can't help but snap a photo; talk about a good place to get your Instagram on).

where I stayed:
I've stayed in my fair share of Palm Springs resorts but the L'Horizon Resort & Spa has got to be one of my favorites by far. First off, it wasn't your typical "hotel". This property was first built as a private retreat for a famous oil tycoon and tv producer from the 1950's (Jack Wrather). He had guesthouses built as an escape for him and all his Hollywood friends back in the day. It was later redeveloped as a resort and boasts individualized bungalows but it definitely still has that mid-century modern charm that I loved. I wanted to photograph every corner of the property! It felt like I was transported back in time.
Not only was the actual hotel gorgeous and charming, the service there was impeccable. I felt like I was catered to every second by the genuine and cool staff. I also loved that the individual bungalows made you feel like you had your own little house there. There was a lot of privacy and even a sliding glass door from our bungalow that walked out to the pool area. I definitely recommend staying here and definitely hope to stay here again on my next trip to the desert.
