Palm Springs: The Perfect Weekend Getaway

This past weekend I took a much needed mini vacation to one of my favorite destinations in California: Palm Springs.

Palm Springs is a cute little desert town filled with cute resorts, gorgeous pools, beautiful mountain views, and tons of yummy spots to eat and drink. I've been coming to Palm Springs once a year for a while now since it's only a quick two hour drive from where I live in San Diego for a relaxing weekend away and every time it does not disappoint. I love that I can come here to just unwind, forget about work or any life stresses and chill poolside with a yummy cocktail enjoying the desert sun. (Plus every corner you turn you can't help but snap a photo; talk about a good place to get your Instagram on).

Scroll down to see where I stayed, what I wore, and where I ate and drank.

where I stayed:

L'Horizon Resort & Spa - 1050 EAST PALM CANYON DRIVE • PALM SPRINGS • CA 92264

I've stayed in my fair share of Palm Springs resorts but the L'Horizon Resort & Spa has got to be one of my favorites by far. First off, it wasn't your typical "hotel". This property was first built as a private retreat for a famous oil tycoon and tv producer from the 1950's (Jack Wrather). He had guesthouses built as an escape for him and all his Hollywood friends back in the day. It was later redeveloped as a resort and boasts individualized bungalows but it definitely still has that mid-century modern charm that I loved. I wanted to photograph every corner of the property! It felt like I was transported back in time.

Not only was the actual hotel gorgeous and charming, the service there was impeccable. I felt like I was catered to every second by the genuine and cool staff. I also loved that the individual bungalows made you feel like you had your own little house there. There was a lot of privacy and even a sliding glass door from our bungalow that walked out to the pool area. I definitely recommend staying here and definitely hope to stay here again on my next trip to the desert.

Private bungalow room with easy pool access via sliding glass door

Dreamy decor in the lobby had me feeling like I was transported back in time to the glamour of the 60's

Relaxing poolside amongst gorgeous mountain views in the desert

I was probably waiting for my spicy margarita as I snapped this photo

A hotel robe is really my favorite outfit to wear

I spent a good amount of time at the pool bar where they served the yummiest cocktails and had the best service.

what I wore:

90-100 degree temps everyday means nothing but sundresses, sandals and lots of hats and sunnies

Vacation appropriate attire includes dresses that have cut-outs and colorful pom-pom's (this exact dress is sold out but comes in an adorable two-piece set and romper I've linked below)

Always trying to dress like the salsa emoji - bonus this dress is 50% off right now with code: GET50 (linked below)

Summer uniform: gingham, off the shoulder & ruffles. This dress is also 50% off with code: GET50 (yay!)

Lots of airy, white dresses came in handy to beat the heat (and surprisingly I wore this to dinner and didn't spill on myself). This exact dress is by For Love & Lemons and is a couple of seasons old so it's sold out everywhere. I've linked a v similar style from their current season that's just as cute!

where I ate/drank:

The poolside hotel bar at the L'Horizon Resort was amazing. It's part of the So-Pa restaurant on the hotel premises and every cocktail and meal I had here was delicious. I recommend the Spa Elixir to sip on by the pool (refreshing cucumber and vodka cocktail).

Ask for a spicy Bloody Mary infused with Sriracha (you know I was a fan)

A happy hour favorite of mine was the margarita ( I asked for it spicy, because of course I would) -- and it was SO good.

Lulu California Bistro: 200 S Palm Canyon Dr, Palm Springs, CA 92262

This place is always a go-to restaurant whenever I'm in Palm Springs. They have an extensive menu of every kind of dish/cuisine you could want. Kind of like a hip and trendier Cheesecake Factory? But way better. I got the pear salad, seafood linguine, and Patron berry mojito.

The Workshop Kitchen + Bar: 800 N Palm Canyon Dr, Palm Springs, CA 92262

This is a really stylish restaurant with a unique seasonal menu. Everything we had here was amazing, down from the cocktails to the appetizers to the food. I definitely treated myself here. If you want a more intimate dining experience, I recommend making reservations. Other than that, there's a huge communal table that seemed like was easy to be seated at without a reservation.

extra: the infamous pink door

This pink door is Instagram famous so I had to stop by and see what all the hype was about. Its a beautiful property with an extra lavish pink door, giant aloe plants and even has lion's heads detailing the home. Definitely a cute little Palm Springs gem to check out. People live here but I'm sure they're used to bloggers stopping by to snap a pic by their sidewalk.

Find the home at: 1100 E Sierra Way, Palm Springs, CA 92264

Let me know if you guys have any other Palm Springs rec's I need to check out. Already dreaming of my next trip back!

XO,

Jasmin
